SOCIAL MARKETING INITIATIVE FROM ALL-IN GLOBAL

Over the next 2 years, All-in Global will donate €10,000 in total to 10 carefully selected organizations that help educate children in impoverished communities. In a series of 10 blog posts, the project manager Elisavet Arkolaki will tell the story of each selected organization as part of our social marketing initiative.

The author of this blog series, Elisavet Arkolaki, has a background in writing, editing, and publishing books, among others “How to Raise Confident Multicultural Children”. She also works as an Online Marketer and Greek translator.

Love for languages both in their spoken and written forms is something that motivates us. Historically, culturally, and in the individual’s life, writing is subsequent to speech and presupposes it. A person can become fully bilingual/multilingual purely through communication with others in the family and community, but to be able to appreciate and master writing, that stems from having had the privilege to get educated. A basic human right in some countries, yet sadly still a privilege in many others.

Here at All-in Global, we are all able to form, be part of and benefit from this incredible, complex human network where millions of words are delivered monthly to clients in a digital framework, because of and thanks to having had access to a good education. We’ve had the opportunity to develop a brain that can come up with and handle a rich, complex way of thinking through ongoing education that started during childhood and never stopped. Education means choices. Education is freedom.

Social marketing is defined as the use of commercial marketing principles and techniques to improve the welfare of people and the physical, social and economic environment in which they live. It is a carefully planned, long-term approach to changing human behavior. With this in mind, we have decided to donate €1000 each over the next two years to 10 carefully selected organizations that work in the field of education. We are particularly dedicated to supporting children from poverty-stricken communities to get enrolled in schools and complete their studies, and even more so, girls who more often than not have even fewer choices, and still no voice.

As luck would have it, while we were researching potential organizations, I stumbled upon the most incredible documentary on Netflix. Since 1997, the Shanti Bhavan school has provided free education for some of India’s most impoverished and underrepresented children – “the poorest of the poor.” In this inspiring series, we get to really see the impact education can have on children as the camera crew follows them from early childhood till they enter university. We see girls flourishing into confident and charismatic women who learned how to think for themselves, to have a voice, to have a choice.

Giving back to our communities is a utilitarian act from our end: “A rising tide lifts all boats” (John F. Kennedy). By giving back to others, we all benefit. Our hope is that by doing our bit to help with the education of as many as we can reach with the allocated sum, it will help change for the better the life of larger communities that go beyond the individual. These are communities where we live, where our translators and content writers live, where our collaborators and clients might come from in the future.

When one person gets educated, life changes for many more. An educated person might help their immediate family, will most certainly make different choices and act differently with their future family, if they decide to have one, work on projects that will help communities at large. An educated person might become a business person who will offer jobs to hundreds or thousands, can become a thought leader who will break barriers and help change unfair and oppressing traditions. How many of us have a fond memory of a teacher who inspired us in some way? Educated people always bring change, one way or the other, and this equals a better world.

Every other month up until the completion of this project, I will tell the story of each chosen organization. How are they helping? Where are they based? What is their mantra?
