FINLAND | EXPERIENCED ILONEN ‘’ON COURSE’’ FOR A GOOD TOURNAMENT

He’s not one of the more illustrious names in the field but Ilonen is a very capable golfer with five tournament wins under his belt. Interestingly, he likes playing in Sweden and he likes beating Swedes.

He’s twice won in Sweden and saved what was perhaps the best performance of his career for the 2014 Volvo World Matchplay where in the final he beat… Henrik Stenson. The same Henrik Stenson who is favourite to win gold in Rio.

Given this is a course no-one has played before and his vast experience as a pro of 15 years, the consistent Ilonen might just fancy his chances here.
