FEW LEAGUES IN MALTA ARE MORE POPULAR THAN PENTASIA
Few sports activities in Malta engage more people than the Pentasia Clubs League. The 8th version of the five-a-side football league was won with clear margin by All-In Translations.
The Pentasia Clubs League has established itself as an institution in the online gaming industry in Malta. With jobs where people are prone to spending a lot of time sitting down in front of computers, the weekly Pentasia game provides a welcomed push to team up with colleagues and play a game of football against competing companies.
Humble beginnings
“The idea started from very humble beginnings over a dinner conversation with some colleagues from the Maltese Gaming industry. Back then, we wanted to do something that brought people from different companies together”, said Christopher Vella, Group Managing Director at Pentasia.
Sounds friendly enough, but make no mistake: The Pentasia Clubs League is very competitive, with 34 teams and 525 players divided in two divisions battling it out for the titles of the 2014/2015 season.
14 unbeaten games – new record
The title with the biggest trophy is of course the division A league title, and this year there was no doubt in which hands it would end up. All-In Translations, an industry leading language service provider established in Malta in 2008, gave away only 5 of 48 points, winning the league 9 points ahead of runner-up Enetsport. Casumo ended third, while FXGM won division B.
“We have stumbled on the finishing line year after year, but no other team could match our squad and continuity this season. I am delighted to finally call the league title ours, a great team effort!”, said Team Captain and CEO of All-In Translations, Roy Pedersen.
“Finally All-In Translations managed to win with an unbeaten run of fourteen games. We believe this is a record”, said Dione Bugeja of the coordinating team, adding that they are looking forward to start the workings for next year.
16 out of the 34 participating teams advance to the cup which starts on April 20th.
