All-in Global is the #1 language service provider for the iGaming industry. With 12 years of data we believe it’s relevant for our viewers to know how our localization projects are divided. Our staff tend to choose “marketing creative” when it’s not clear how a project should be classified, so this number is often too high in comparison.

THE CHALLENGES OF IGAMING LOCALIZATION IN SPANISH
Let’s be honest: everyone wants to be able to visit a website, play a game or watch a movie in their own language. And Spanish is a huge language, with around 500 million native speakers and many other million who speak it as a second language. In Spain, the language is often called “Castilian” (as the language itself originates from the kingdom of Castile) and its target audience amounts to 47 million in this country alone.
Spanish language in Spain tends to be unique when compared to the one they speak in Latin American countries and the differences are huge when it comes to iGaming terms. For example, in Spain you would use the English word “slots”, although the preferred term is “tragaperras” (and never “tragamonedas”). You could use “poker” but in writing “póquer” or “póker” – yes, the English word with an accent – should be used instead… and when it comes to in-game terms it can get even more complicated than that. Wilds or Scatters can be “comodines” or “dispersiones”… but also “wilds” or “símbolos dispersos” are common. Even the word “spin” can be translated differently, depending on what your players are more used to: “tiradas” or “giros”. Therefore, a good localisation team is essential: not only terminology has to be flawless, it also has to look like an original text and not a translation; to that end, it has to flow naturally so that the target audience can’t tell the original text apart from the translation.
Another peculiarity of Castilian Spanish is that it is more direct and a lot less formal than other variations. When translating terms and conditions and legal documents it is obviously advisable to use the formal register (“usted”) but when addressing players directly it is way more common to use the informal “tú”. People in Spain are used to “tutear” from the get-go, something that would be frowned upon in many countries in Latin America, if not considered outright disrespectful.
So, all things considered, if you really want your players to feel at ease, comfortable and, in short, to be at home, do not hesitate to leave your iGaming projects in All-in Global’s hands, the best place they can be.

SPANISH ONLINE GAMING MARKET: POTENTIAL
WHY CHOOSE US FOR YOUR SPANISH PROJECT?
Spain has enjoyed a historical engagement with lotteries including El Gordo, one of the highest paying lottos in the world, and the passion for gambling both online and retail has been a mainstay of Spanish culture for decades.
Igaming is also one industry which is currently thriving, with many remote operators, although not domestic in nature, happily accept Spanish players with countless sites offering Spanish language option. Language focus from operators emphasises the importance of somewhat niche languages and that are held dear to Spaniards, and this demonstrates the attention to detail how operators approach the friendly yet divisive nature of this iGaming market.
Massive enthusiasm for markets such as La Liga goes to answer why the Spanish online iGaming is one of intense growth and unwavering dedication.
Further increases in iGaming trends, Spain is a country that already has a huge domestic and intentional sportsbook market and classic online games such as slots, table games and live casinos are seeing a steady increase. A country that is synonymous with a long history of gaming, the future seems even brighter still.
